Large-scale public space construction based on grey and green infrastructure: from experience of Boston to contemporary practice

Grey and green infrastructure are important resources for constructing public space in cities. ‘Emerald Necklace’, Charles River Park and ‘Big Dig’ are analyzed from the aspects of space structure and ways of use from the perspective of urban design, in order to find the strategy of constructing large-scale public spaces on the basis of grey and green infrastructure, as well as the function of largescale public spaces based on grey and green infrastructure. Experience is summarized as a theoretical and practical reference for public space exploitation and development in China.
